The PARTNERS Programme presented the Observatory, a joint initiative undertaken with La Unió.

The session, held on 16th March 2018,  featured the participation of Roser Fernández, Secretary General of the Catalan Department of Health, Manel Peiró, Director of the Institute for Healthcare Management at ESADE, and Enric Mangas, President of La Unió.

The introductory remarks were followed by a panel discussion on successful experiences with public-private partnerships, moderated by Mónica Reig, Director of the PARTNERS Programme and Associate Director of the Center for Public Governance (ESADEgov).

The first experience described involved public procurement as a driver of innovation in the Cardiology Service at Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau. Speaking on this topic were Xavier Viñolas, Director of the Arrhythmia Unit in the Cardiology Service at Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, Ramon Maspons, Innovation Coordinator at the Agency for Health Quality and Assessment of Catalonia, and Germán Gutiérrez, Director of Integrated Health Solutions at Medtronic Iberia.

The second experience mentioned was Mosaic, a programme that aims to improve quality of life for people with mental health problems in central Catalonia. This programme was described by Mercè Rosich, Manresa City Councillor for Health, and Anna M. Prats, Director of the Germà Tomàs Canet Foundation.

Finally, the last experience described was Game Over, a programme that aims to reduce the number of traffic accidents in Catalonia. Speaking on this topic were M. Farners de Cruz,Director of the Catalan Traffic Service’s Safe Mobility Training Processes Service, and Àngel Gil, Social Adviser to the Guttmann Institute Foundation.
