A paper by ESADEgov Professor Tamyko Ysa, entitled “Corporate governance of state-owned enterprises: a systematic analysis of empirical literature,” has received an Outstanding Paper award from Emerald Publishing, one of the international leading publishers in business and management research. The Awards for Excellence recognize the best paper published at each of Emerald’s journals during previous academic year.

Prof. Ysa’s paper, published in the International Journal of Public Sector Management (volume 30, issue 5) and coauthored by Peter Daiser and Daniel Schmitt, both from the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer, reviews the current research and literature on the corporate governance of state-owned enterprises (SOEs). One of the paper’s conclusions is that a municipality that holds a stake in SOEs takes on a role similar to that of an active investor, which demands specific portfolio-management skills and knowledge.

Emerald’s Literari Awards “celebrate and reward the outstanding contributions of authors and reviewers to scholarly research,” focusing on their internationality, diversity, support for scholarly research, impact, commitment to high-quality scholarship, and experience for readers, authors and customers.
